Yesterday, Chelle and I met at Three Bags Full for a KnitDate. She was so sweet and bought me “Going Away Yarn” – she is allergic to all animal fibers and told me to pick something cushy that she couldn’t knit with… however, I’d been eying this gorgeous aqua colour of Blue Sky Cotton.

Yummy Aqua cotton! (Excuse the crap photo. The tag is Blue Sky Dyed Cotton.)

Afterwards we walked to Saltspring Coffee to sit and knit. Maylee, Chelle’s dog, was very well behaved like always! Chelle worked on her Central Park Hoodie that she is knitting for NaKniSweMo, and I finished my sister’s 10 Foot Scarf and then worked on my toque.

Not quite 10 feet… but done at 104 inches with tassels.

I had already cast on with my Blue Sky Alpaca Organic Cotton in white, but the aqua cotton went so beautifully with it so I cast on double-stranded. However, once I’d been knitting for a bit, I wondered if the two colours being drastically different would deteriorate from the cables that went up the sides of the toque. (When I got home I frogged it. I’ll have to find a new project for my Aqua Cotton).

Two colours… or not?

Then Chelle gave me another gift! She knit a little sockie and put it on a keychain with “monnibo” spelled out in beads. Thank you Chelle – you are the sweetest!! We’re planning to do a yarn swap once I get to England because they have Rowan Calmer (no animal fibers).

My MonniboSock attached to my backpack.
